Set on an expansive plot of land that served as a concert venue previously named Triple Canopy Ranch, the resort will begin taking shape near the close of this year.
“The growth in Lake Wales and in Polk County is really exciting, and we are thrilled to be part of it”, stated Tristan Farrell, president of The Resort at Canopy Oaks. “The market for RV parks and manufactured homes is at its absolute peak not only in Florida, but in the U.S., so a resort-style 1000-plus site community with big, unique, eye-catching amenities and green spaces is going to create a huge buzz in central Florida. This development will generate a tremendous amount of commerce and jobs in the community, and we look forward to contributing in as many ways as possible. This is more than us building a resort in Lake Wales and more about us showing the beauty of central Florida.”
The main entrance of the resort, located on CR 630, opens to expansive land dotted with palms and water features. Preserving the natural habitat is extremely important to the builders, and they will be retaining 50% — around 200 acres — of the property for green space to include walking and biking trails. The resort will be divided into separate areas; one for RV’s, which will be available to all age groups, and an area for the 55-plus mobile home community.
“I can confidently say that this resort will be one of the nicest in the state of Florida, and we’re excited to share our vision with the surrounding communities”, Farrell continued. “We know that people will be impressed with the caliber of this resort, and we hope to partner with area communities and extend our planned restaurant and tiki bar for everyone to enjoy.”
The builders are sparing nothing when it comes to planning amenities, and the pet-friendly resort will showcase a 10,000 square-foot clubhouse, areas for fishing, pickleball, bocce, shuffleboard, a fitness center, dog park and more.
“We’re also building a partnership with nearby Indian Lakes Estates,” noted Farrell. “We will be constructing a golf cart path from our resort to the course at Indian Lakes so our residents can enjoy a round or two.”
The partnership will allow residents of Canopy Oaks the opportunity to partake in golf without traveling a great distance.
The Rocklyn Homes group is planning a ground breaking ceremony that will include a ribbon cutting, food and beverages, and live music on July 11, in conjunction with the Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council.
