The Washington County (Tenn.) Emergency Communication Center confirmed reports of bear activity at the Clarks Creek campground near Jonesborough, the Johnson City Press reported.

Dispatchers said camping is not allowed at this time, but visitors are allowed to day hike.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency advised that the U.S. Forest Service had reported that Clarks Creek would be closed to overnight visitors because of excessive and aggressive bear activity in that area. There was no estimated timeframe for the closure.
