More than two inches of rainfall has prompted officials to clear the campgrounds at McFarland Park in Florence, Ala., according to the Times Daily.
“Certainly, that’s a lot, but it wasn’t as much as some areas of north Alabama got during the recent rain,” said meteorologist Andy Kula, with the National Weather Service office in Huntsville.
Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency Director George Grabryan said city officials have moved all the campers out of the campground at McFarland Park as a precautionary measure.
“The park is still open, but everyone needs to be aware of the warning and keep an eye on the river rising,” Grabryan said. “We’ve had a lot of rain lately and that’s going to cause the river to rise.”
