The Upper Chatanika State Recreation Site in Alaska on the Steese Highway will be closed for about a month starting on May 26 for construction at the campground, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.
Work will include rerouting the road into the campground and building four new campsites.
The new alignment will eliminate four of the 24 campsites but the state parks department is building four new ones to replace them.
The campground will remain closed until the project is complete, which will be June 30 at the latest. There’s a chance the campground could open sooner if work is completed ahead of time.
