Red Deer County, Alberta, has approved Lakewood Golf Resort’s plan to add another nine holes and 70 RV spots, according to the Red Deer Advocate.
The golf course just northeast of Sylvan Lake built 40 RV sites in 2017 and expanded with another 40 sites this year.
On Tuesday (Dec. 3), the municipal planning commission approved additional lots and gave the green light to the golf course expansion.
Head pro Scott Bergdahl said work will likely begin on the RV sites next spring and work on the golf course could begin in early 2021.
The expansion to 18 holes would be ready soonest in the fall of 2022. That timetable is not set though and they may opt to spread golf course construction over a longer period, said Bergdahl.
“We’re not sure if we will do it over a two-year period or a three-year period. That’s still left to be answered,” he said.
