Penhold, Alberta, is moving forward with a new RV park, the Innisfail Province reported.

The proposed project will cost about $1.1 million and the town wants to borrow $650,000 for the project that is to be built on recreational land around Penhold Regional Multiplex.

“We also have some provincial funds that will go into the RV park,” said Mayor Dennis Cooper. “There will be 66 places to park RVs that will have full hookups so they will have power, water and sewer.”

The park will include picnic tables, fire pits and acres of recreational land.

Cooper said the RV park will host local tournaments and other sporting events that will help support the park, as well as provide a central location for visitors to the region, including those from places such as Pine Lake and Sylvan Lake.

“It’s great for people who come and visit families here,” Cooper said. “When they come to visit they can set up camp and have a place to park their RV.”

Construction on the park is expected to begin later this spring.
