With subzero temperatures currently enveloping Alberta, the idea of camping is probably the furthest thing from people’s minds.

But for those dreaming about roasting marshmallows over a campfire, the time is nigh to start making your summer plans, according to the Edmonton Journal.

Camping reservations for Jasper National Park open Jan. 9 and if previous years are anything to go by, spots at Jasper, Whistler and its sister campground Wapiti, will be quickly snapped up.

In the first three hours of opening day last year, almost 6,000 reservations were made and summer long weekends sold out. Jasper National Park has over 1,800 campsites.
