The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona announced four early seasonal campground closures in the Black Mesa Ranger District, the White Mountain Independent of Show Low reported.

The earlier-than-expected seasonal closures included Gentry Campground, which closed Oct. 8, Black Canyon Rim Campground, Mogollon Campground and the Rim Campground closed Oct. 20. These seasonal closures are only a little bit sooner than expected. “The weather is getting extremely cold and we feel the need to close these campgrounds for visitor safety and to prevent water lines from freezing” said Chris James, district ranger.
