A proposed 10-site RV campground south of the airport in Kelowna, British Columbia, will not be permitted, the Kelowna Daily Courier reported.

The city council decided Monday (Dec. 12) to deny Brenda Dureault’s application for the campground at 395 Hereron Road.

The proposal did not represent a net benefit for agriculture and might have led to increased pressure for development in the area, a majority of council members said.

The council earlier this year scrapped an agri-tourism program that allowed campsites on farms under some conditions. But Dureault’s application was still brought before the council for consideration because it was being reviewed by staff when the program was scrubbed.
