Best Parks in America (BPA), the industry’s premier association of highly rated RV parks and campgrounds, will hold its inaugural National Network Conference in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 13 -15.
In previous years, Best Parks has held its network meetings in conjunction with the annual convention of the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC), but as the network has grown and as the industry evolves, the association leaders felt the time was right for Best Parks to hold a stand-alone conference, according to a news release.
The conference is scheduled in Orlando to enable park owners to also attend the annual exposition of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) held each year at the Orange County Convention Center. Best Parks arranged a discounted show admission for parks attending the BPA show.
The conference will feature a kickoff Keynote Conversation, a new meeting format created by Best Parks to enable the speaker, select panelists and the audience to participate actively in a conversation on the important issues facing the Best Parks system. The Conversation will begin with a presentation by Paul McManus, recently retired president and CEO of Leading Hotels of the World, who will address how independent hospitality businesses are addressing three key issues – competition from large chains and franchises, incorporating state-of-the-art technology into their business and how properties are adapting to today’s travel and outdoor recreation consumers.
A panel of hospitality industry experts will expand on the three key areas of discussion and an open conversation with all present will allow exchange between affiliate park owners, McManus and the panel experts.
“We’re very excited about our first National Network Conference and having Paul McManus will be great kickoff the event. Best Parks in many ways emulates the Leading Hotels of The World network and we are learning more every day from that operation,” said David Gorin, BPA president.
On the first evening of the conference, Gorin and Deb Kohls, BPA vice president, will present “Best Parks in America 2013…. and Beyond,” a look at the upcoming marketing and brand building activities coming in 2013.
Building on one of the most important Best Parks core values to deliver the best facilities, amenities, services and hospitality experiences in the outdoor industry, a featured conference session is titled “Best Practices: Taking Your Park from Good to Great,” which will include presentations by successful Best Park entrepreneurs on best practices they’ve developed to take their parks to success. Among topics to be covered are park expansion, seasonal operations, operations, investor-owned parks, ownership parks and driving revenue through technology.
Other featured sessions will include “Making Data Driven Decisions” and “Using Soft Branding to Drive Business.” Presenters include Blake Ashdown of Sure Vista Solutions (a Best Park partner) and Joe Opp, retired senior vice president for Leading Hotels of the World.
Both evenings of the conference will offer networking dinner receptions for all attendees to get acquainted build relationships and offer opportunity to do business together.
The final morning of the conference is set for affiliate workshops during where attendees will help shape the Best Parks brand and experience.
Workshop topics include “In Park & External Marketing & Advertising,” “Crafting the BPA Consumer Experience,” “Training Staff in the BPA Way,” “Features of the BPA Loyalty & Rewards Program” and “Internet Reservations: Critical or Not?”
