Three brothers are pitching an idea to turn part of the gateway to Pennsylvania’s Presque Isle State Park into a campground, the Erie Times-News reported.
Al, Dean and the Rev. Theofanis Nacopoulos would build the 141-lot campground on what is now vacant and wooded land north of West Sixth Street and east of Peninsula Drive, Millcreek Township engineer Rick Morris said.
The BAC Inc. bait store and Schickalay’s on the Bay restaurant, 2860 W. Sixth St., would not be affected by the development, according to the plans.
Al Nacopoulos declined to comment on the proposed development, which is in its infancy.
Theofanis Nacopoulos said that the campground would be good for the community because it would draw tourists who would spend money at restaurants and shops.
The Millcreek Township Planning Commission will review a sketch plan for the BAC Camper Park, as it would be called, on May 13.
