CampCalifornia guide is reaching out to RV dealers for 2013 edition. But dealers will have to act soon to take part.

The California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CalARVC) is providing RV dealers with print and online marketing opportunities that could strengthen dealers’ outreach to consumers.

But they need to act quickly.

The Auburn, Calif.-based trade association is giving its dealer members until Friday, Oct. 19, to take advantage of special print advertising opportunities in its 225,000-circulation statewide campground directory, Camp-California, the Camper’s Guide to California, which will hit the streets in January, according to a news release.

CalARVC is offering the print advertising opportunities in conjunction with banner ads on Camp-California.com, CalARVC’s popular travel planning website, which has had numerous enhancements in content during the past two years.

“This is the first time dealers have been able to advertise in both our print and online campground directories,” said Debbie Sipe, CalARVC’s executive director.

CalARVC is offering the print and online website marketing opportunities after its board of directors created a new membership category that makes it possible for RV dealers to join the campground association.

RV dealers with one location that join CalARVC can receive basic print and online lists for as little as $375, while dealers with five or more locations would pay $750 or more. Enhanced print and online advertising packages start at $700 and go up to $7,000, depending on how deeply and widely dealers want to expose their businesses to camping consumers in print and online.

Print directory advertising is the most expensive component of the marketing program, with a full-page ad costing $5,000. However, consumers travel with their print directories and keep them for at least two or three years. “That provides a lot of ongoing exposure with the camping consumer,” Sipe said.

CalARVC has dramatically improved Camp-California.com during the past two years with more detailed travel planning sections, including a section that lists campgrounds, RV parks and resorts that can accommodate RVs over 40 feet in length. Additional sections provide information on driver’s license requirements and road restrictions involving 40-foot plus RVs.

CalARVC’s print directory also remains a critical travel planning resource for camping and RVing enthusiasts. Camp-California, the Camper’s Guide to California is a four-color glossy magazine that lists more than 700 campgrounds and RV resorts throughout the Golden State.

The directory is free and can be picked up at most campgrounds that are affiliated with the CalARVC as well as California Welcome Centers, Camping World and Bass Pro Shop stores throughout California. Beginning January 2013, the guide will be available for smart phones and tablets in the iTunes Store. It can also be ordered online through Camp-California.com. However, there is a small fee to cover the cost of postage.
