The California Associaiton of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CalARVC) and Camp-California Marketing are launching a new way to promote statewide camping in next autumn’s shoulder season.
The two organizations are encouraging member parks to offer camping the weekend of Oct. 2-3 2009, for a flat fee of $50.
“This program was started in Quebec several years ago. They receive great media coverage all across their region and province,” explained Debbie Sipe, CalARVC executive director. “It is not our intention to offer discount camping, but rather to create a newsworthy tool to attract media attention. We can only hope that on October 2 and 3, 2009, each participating RV park or campground will be full with folks who would not have been camping otherwise.”
In addition to filling participating parks with campers on a shoulder season weekend, the media coverage will increase awareness and visitation of Camp-California.com and the camping guide, she noted in the current CalARVC News and Marketing Newsletter.
“To make this event a success, we need as many parks as possible to sign up to participate in this program today,” she stated.
Parks participanting in the $50 Camping Weekend program will receive an estimated 1 million impressions through special notations and icons in these marketing avenues: A dedicated webpage explaining the $50 Camping Weekend program, the 2009 Camp-California camping guide, Camp-California.com website and California Campin’ enewsletter and CaliforniaCampin.com.
CalARVC members are encouraged to sign up for the program by Nov. 1.
