The lease at a popular Fresno, Calif., campground has been terminated by the state, according to KMJNow.
The California State Lands Commission officially terminated the Fort Washington Beach Campground lease at its meeting in San Diego on Aug. 24.
The commission staff made the recommendation after learning the yearly rent hasn’t been paid and the property hasn’t had a liability insurance policy for six years. The Finch family, of Fresno, has leased and operated the recreational park in northeast Fresno for nearly 40 years.
Judith Finch was the last leaseholder but she died in 2017.
In a recent meeting between commission representatives and Fresno city staff, they learned the campground may be in violation of city ordinances.
