The Devon, Alberta, annual Christmas in the Park event is set for Nov. 29 at the Devon Lions Campground, the Devon Dispatch reported.
But this isn’t just another year for the event, as Christmas in the Park is set to celebrate 10 years of kicking off the Christmas season in Devon.
Last year saw record attendance for the event, and this year the town is preparing for an even larger crowd.
“Traditionally we’ve had around 1,000 to 1,500 people coming out,” said Kristin Walsh, community recreation coordinator. “Last year we had over 3,000. We were floored.”
This year will see a lot of the old favourite activities returning, including Christmas carollers, story telling by the campfire, Old Red the antique fire engine, teams of horses for sleigh rides and live reindeer along with Santa’s sleigh, a highlight for the kids. The sleigh is parked just outside the chalet, and kids can head inside to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
There will also be music, crafts and a whole lot more.
