The bare hills in the White Fire zone of California’s Santa Ynez Valley are now facing a new concern with two winter storms passing through, television station KEYT reported from Santa Barbara Wednesday evening (Feb. 26).

The area off Paradise Rd. in the Upper Oso campground burned over the Memorial Day weekend last year. Since then, there’s been little or no regrowth, which could lead to mud flowing during a storm Friday (Feb. 28).

Campground host Bob Hart said he asked some hikers to make sure they got out before the rains came down. Hart said he will stay in his trailer through the storms but does expect over five inches of rain in the hills above his campground site.
