The Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CARVC) is putting the final touches on its planned conference from Feb. 3-5 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Back to the Future,” and Dee Witting, executive director of the association, noted to WOODALLSCM.com (WCM) that registrations are on a good pace.
“We have around 93 attendees signed up at the moment, representing 40 campgrounds,” she noted. “We have a lot of first-timers ready to join us.”
The Newly formed Georgia Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (GeorgiaARVC) is also prepared to take part in the conference, while also hosting a board meeting at the conference.
With a number of educational sessions, park tours and other events taking place during the event, Witting told WCM that it was hard to pick out what she was most excited about.
“I think it is great that we are going to have both of our lobbyists at the conference,” she explained. “One from North Carolina and the other from South Carolina.”
Witting told WCM that both lobbyists are working on bills at the moment that would impact park owners, including a Landlord Tenant Act (Bill 3765) in South Carolina and a Tenant Bill (Bill 352) in North Carolina.
“We are hoping to focus on the immunity laws next,” she noted.
John Formica, a former Disney employee, is set to keynote the conference on how to deal with challenging customers.
On the tradeshow side, more than 35 vendors are set to take part.
“This is a great turnout and I like that we have a lot of different vendors that have never attended before,” Witting explained.
The Campground Connection will also be hosting a Buyers Workshop during the conference. This industry-specific workshop will educate participants on the ins and outs of purchasing a campground and give them the tools needed for a successful purchase.

CARVC Has also brought back its Takeaway Tour and right now 37 people have signed up for that experience. The tour will visit four parks, one of which is under construction. For $75 attendees of this tour will get transportation in a luxury coach, a wine tasting and lunch at Carrollwoods RV Campground and Winery.
