Whispering Pines RV Resort and Campground near Mancelona, Mich., has new owners with ideas they hope will make it a destination for vacationers — and locals.
Russell and Sydney Carriere bought it in May and have big plans for growth and improvement, The Leader and Kalkaskan, Kalkaska, reported.
They are open for the summer season and campers already are on the refreshed grounds, walking, biking, playing horseshoes and volleyball. The splash deck and adult pool renovations nearly are complete and will be done in time for the heat of summer, according to Russell.
Campers will celebrate the 4th of July with sky lanterns; each registered campsite will receive one to light up the sky.
Christmas in July is in the works, as is an 18-hole Frisbee golf course.
