Cavco Industries Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., parent company of Cavco Homes and Fleetwood Homes, has received the Manufactured Housing Institute’s ”Manufacturer of the Year Award.”

The award, presented at the 2010 National Congress and Expo for Manufactured and Modular Housing in Las Vegas, Nev., recognizes Cavco’s consistent quality of product, extensive design capabilities and top notch customer service, according to a news release

“We are honored and excited to receive this recognition, which reflects the outstanding efforts of our team members throughout the country,” said Joe Stegmayer, Cavco chairman and CEO.  “We are grateful that our industry peers selected our company for this award.”

The second largest producer of manufactured homes in the United States, Cavco Industries builds homes under the Cavco Homes and Fleetwood Homes brand names. The company is also one of the nation’s largest producers of recreational park trailers and vacation cabins.

Cavco produces its systems-built homes in 10 manufacturing facilities across the U.S. with a variety of floor plans and price points. Homes are constructed to the building standards established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the International and Universal Building Codes.

Cavco and Fleetwood homes generally range in size from approximately 500 to 3,300 square feet, and offer countless options to customize the design and features to the buyer’s preference. The homes are built in two or more modules, although the company also produces single-section homes.

Park model homes and cabins are 400 square feet in size or smaller and are purchased primarily for use as second homes, vacation homes or for seasonal retirement living. Campgrounds and RV resorts also use park models and cabins as rental units to provide comfortable amenity filled accommodations for their visitors.

Cavco and Fleetwood together have built more than 1.4 million homes during the past 60 years.  Cavco Industries is a publicly owned company listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange and trades under the symbol CVCO.
