There are still large amounts of snow remaining in the high country limiting access to some recreation opportunities, rangers in the Eagle-Holy Cross district near Minturn, Colo., told the Vail Daily Enterprise.
Trails, camping areas and roads are melting out slower than usual and may open later than expected.
The following campgrounds are open for the early summer camping season: Gore Creek, Camp Hale Memorial, Hornsilver and Sweetwater. As of now, all other campgrounds still have snow in the sites or access roads are too soft – these will open as soon as the snow melts and the roads are dry.
