Editor’s Note: The following post appears in the current issue of the Campground Owners of New York (CONY) e-newsletter.

With the generous help of our campers, CONY parks across New York State raised an amazing $43,000-plus for Camp Good Days and Special Times in 2012.

Camp Good Days is a New York State-based dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life challenges through summer camping experiences and year-round events and activities.

We were touched and overwhelmed by your generosity, and with your help again this year, we’re hoping to raise the bar in our second summer of fundraising. It’s CONY’s 50th anniversary as an association this year, so we’re aiming for $50K in our 50th!

Visiting a CONY park this summer? A little change in the change box, purchasing a paper balloon, or taking part in a planned special event – any of that will go a long way toward reaching our goal. Did you know it costs about $1,500 to send one child to camp through Camp Good Days? All donations, great or small, can help make that happen.

Bill, before …

Bill after

We’ve got some dedicated – and kind of wacky – park operators – one fellow just raised $500 holding a raffle letting one lucky(?) camper shave off the owner’s long beard on July 4th.

What will they think of next???
