The future of Eau Claire County, Wis., campgrounds is being considered.
One option the county is exploring: allowing a private company to take over operations, WQOW-TV, Eau Claire, reported.
The county board ordered various departments to analyze ways to save money to meet future budget challenges. That includes taking a look at privatizing the Coon Fork and Harstad County Park campgrounds. The county is looking at the feasibility of leasing out the campgrounds to a company, or turning over the operations in return for a percentage of the profits.
Right now the campgrounds are in the black, with campsites going for $15 to $25 a night. That evaluation is due July 1.
