An Alabama nonprofit group is leveraging the attraction of an historic island setting to try to get visitors to enjoy its campground on Dauphin Island.

The Dauphin Island Campground offers a true Island experience which is both accessible and affordable to you and your camping family. From spacious wooded sites complete with picnic tables, to free boat launches, a boardwalk to the beach, and hookups to accommodate either tents or RVs, the campground has it all, according to television station WALA reported.

The National Audubon Society recognizes the island and its’ 155-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary as a globally important spot for bird migrations. The entire island was recently declared a bird sanctuary.
