Due to Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Parks and land steward concerns over degradation to the Live Oak campground site — which has hosted individual campers, girl scouts, renaissance fairs and the Lucidity Festival for the last 3 years — the festival almost had to move locations due to ecological concerns, the Santa Barbara Independent reported.

Hearing the county’s concerns, festival organizers are finding the best pathway to bring people out into nature, build community and rehabilitate the land.

The central coast holds a huge landscape of biodiversity and natural ecology that is significantly affected by the worst drought in recorded history. The Lucidity Festival’s sustainability department implemented numerous measures this year to lessen its impact on the land.
