Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) announced that Chris Fairlee has been promoted to the newly created position of assistant vice president of system development at its international headquarters in Billings, Mont.
Fairlee began his new assignment on Monday (April 27), according to a press release.
Fairlee will oversee the day-to-day operations of KOA’s business development strategies, including new campground sales, conversions and new-builds and existing facilities development. He will also supervise six staff members and departmental budgets.
Fairlee has been with KOA for three years: two years as marketing manager in the Marketing and Communications Department and one year as franchise development manager in the System Development Department. Fairlee assumes the newly created position under Pat Hittmeier, who was recently promoted to KOA’s Chief Operating Officer.
In addition to his years with KOA, Fairlee possesses more than five years of sales and management experience as the director of sales for a national sportswear company, where he supervised 20 to 30 sales representatives. He holds a B.S. in business with an emphasis in marketing.
During his time in the department, the System Development team has brought 50 new campgrounds into the KOA system.
“I’m excited to be back in a management and mentoring position,” says Fairlee. “I’m also excited to continue and build on the successful trend we’ve spearheaded in this department. I look forward to implementing innovative ideas for streamlining our processes and maximizing our sales efforts.”
Fairlee cites Pat Hittmeier as a deep well of knowledge and attributes some of his success at KOA to him. “I’ve been fortunate to work closely with him over the past year and really absorb and implement a tremendous amount of working knowledge over that time. I’ve gained a new level of respect for him because he’s worked – hands on – in every aspect of this business and is willing to share that expertise.”
