Fall camping for the Bear Spring Mountain campground is open through Dec. 18, according to a media release from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, as reported by the Daily Star of Oneonta.

According to the release, 14 sites in the Spruce Grove portion of the campground, located in the towns of Walton and Colchester, are open for off-season camping. Campers must register at the entrance of the camping area before setting up camp. The sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for up to five days at a time at no charge.

No potable water is available, but the pit toilet facilities will remain open, weather permitting. Campers must remove all garbage.
