b'EDITORS NOTES BY BEN QUIGGLENew Name and Cover Better Reflect WCMYoure in for a few surprises in this issue of Woodalls Campground Magazine. Our covers been redesigned for the first time since 2013 to project a morenews-centric feel. Gone are the large cover photos as well as the former name Woodalls Campground Managementinherited from previous ownerAffinity Group Inc. Our masthead logo also now projects a camping scene along with a sloganthat better reflects how we aim to cover the entire outdoor hospitality industry. In the process, we trust that everyone can better identify with what we ac-tually do here at WCM. With so many campground reservation and manage-ment systems stepping into the market over the past 10 yearsalong with awave of new park ownersWCMhad been experiencing some brand confusion.A surprising number of industry people at shows and elsewhere had commented on how theythought WCMwas a reservation systems provider or a campground management company.Obviously, that is not what we do.We, of course, have retained our affiliation with the Woodallsbrand name, which obviously hassome cachet among those who remember the original Chicago-based brand and the famous na-tional campground directory that it published. But that in itself doesnt mean all that much to many of todays new park owner/operators whohave been entering the market lately due to campings increased popularity and dont have thatsame connection.WCMneeded to help people understand what we do and how WCM, the RV park and camp-ground sectors only trade journal, can help them stay informed and connected with the rest of theoutdoor hospitality sector. The new name, logo and cover will hopefully help us better market our brand and, in turn, bettersupport the vendors who advertise with us, the state associations that share their news in our pagesand our readers who rely on us to provide up-to-date, accurate news.Speaking of new names, a number of different development companies have been launchingand promoting campgrounds under new brand names.Canada-based Pacific Frontier Investments Inc.is acquiring more campgrounds and brand-ing them under the Pathfinder Camp Resortsnameplate. Here in the U.S., Q Hospitality Man-agement is working to develop a group of glamping parks that will be branded under theCampCollective name. And certainly, one of the more unique new brands on the market today belongs to NorthgateResorts, which plans to launch the Camp Fimfobrand in July. As more new campers with hotel-like expectations enter the market, we can expect more de-velopers to market their resorts to reflect what they offer, much like Kampgrounds of America Inc.and Leisure Systems Inc.have done for decades now. The goal is to meet the expectations of new entrants to the camping sector and hopefully continuethe growth trends the entire outdoor hospitality industry has seen over the past few years.
