Stanislaus County, Calif., has issued recommended flood evacuation notices to residents at the Catfish Camp mobile home park and Turlock Sportsman’s Club in Crows Landing and Fisherman’s Bend, Thomas’ Retreat and Martin RV Park northeast of Newman.
More than 100 people are estimated to live at the West Side RV parks, which all stand along the San Joaquin River, the Patterson Irrigator reported.
Firefighters in the Newman area, located southeast of San Francisco, have kept busy rescuing animals at Martin RV Park among other activities, said Interim Fire Chief Steve Hall of West Stanislaus County Fire Protection District.
High water levels have impacted septic systems, drinking water and electrical systems in the dwelling areas that have received notices, according to county officials. River levels have risen faster than anticipated and are expected to remain high for at least five days. It is possible that evacuation notices eventually could become mandatory depending on how high the water rises.
