A road that goes around Branson, Mo.’s Lakeside RV Park will reopen to traffic today (May 4) after being closed for nearly a week due to flooding, according to a press release from the city, the Springfield, Mo., News-Leader reported.
The road, also known as Boxcar Willie Drive, opens from the new Taneycomo Bridge west to the railroad trestle. However, barricades have been placed at the trestle to prevent motorists from driving through the neighborhood west of the campground.
According to Branson police, the barricades will remain up through the rest of this week so residents in the Shore and Canal street areas can continue the recovery efforts at their homes, many of which were damaged by the flood waters.
With Boxcar Willie Drive open, people can access Scotty’s Trout Dock and the public boat ramp at the campground. The campground, however, remains closed while city crews clean up and repair the facility.
Officials hope to open about 65 campsites this weekend.
