North Dakota parks officials have closed the campground and trails at Cross Ranch State Park near Washburn and canceled the Missouri River Bluegrass Festival there in mid-June due to Missouri River flooding, Associated Press reported.

Officials earlier closed the campground at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park south of Mandan.

The Army Corps of Engineers is releasing record amounts of water from river dams because of runoff from heavy spring snowmelt and rains. Bismarck-Mandan is fighting the high waters, as is the Standing Rock Reservation that straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.

U.S. Sen. John Hoeven and North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple say the Army Corps of Engineers is sending a team to help the reservation. The high water is threatening homes, tribal infrastructure and access to such facilities as the hospital.
