About 39 acres just south of the mall and west of I-95 could be the site of the RV park. County commissioners on Tuesday (Dec. 15) are to consider the rezoning request of The Kern Company of Coral Gables.
The property currently is zoned for general commercial use, an area reserved for retail sales and service activities development, according to county records. Commercial RV park designation would allow transient mobile homes, campers, motorhomes and other vehicles used while people are on vacation or traveling, county officials said.
If approved, up to 14 RV spaces per acre would be allowed, but, county officials say, developers are planning fewer vehicles in the park.
The proposed RV park is just east of a 900-unit development proposed by Kern Company off 98th Avenue. Venetian Grove would include up to 570 single-family homes and 330 townhomes, said Ryan Sweeney, Indian River County chief of current development.
