North Carolina’s fourth Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is scheduled to open in Asheboro on Memorial Day weekend, according to an announcement from the new campground and franchisor Leisure Systems Inc.

“We’re in the process of building the campground right now,” said Kent Emirbayer, a former pastor who co-owns the 100-acre Asheboro Jellystone with his wife, Jane. They have four children, ages 6 to 14.

“Owning and operating a campground is a great match with who we are,” Emirbayer said, adding, “It’s something both of us have wanted to do since we were teenagers. We really feel that camping brings our family together and we want to provide that for other families.”

The Asheboro Jellystone Park will initially have 16 campsites, horseshoe pits, tetherball, a bounce house, hiking trails, a fishing pond as well as organized family activities.

In addition to the wide variety of activities offered at Jellystone parks, the Asheboro Jellystone is also close to other family attractions in the Asheboro area, including the North Carolina Zoo and Richland Creek Zipline.
