Today (March 1) is unofficially the start of the camping season and campgrounds in the area say some times of the year are already booked up, according to WVLT.

In Sevier County (Tenn.) camping to glamping has become a multi-million dollar industry.

On Thursday, ground crews at Greenbriar Campground were busy preparing for the season ahead.

New this season, luxury cabins are right along the creek, and most of the campground is booked before they open.

“It depends on what you’re looking for. The cabins you see here are completely booked for spring break, but we have plenty of RV sites still available,” said Courtney Belmont, with Greenbriar Campground.

Campgrounds have seen a huge increase in recent years, just in Pigeon Forge alone, they generated $18 million on campsite rentals.
