A plan to add sites at Heritage Hills Campground near Liberty, Ind., won unanimous approval from the Union County Area Plan Commission, the Palladium-Item reported.

Owner Bill Gibbs will create additional sites in the private campground developed about 40 years ago by his late father, which formerly was known as Liberty Tree Campground.

About 20 campground sites will be created from three large lots behind the gas station and storage buildings, an area that never was divided, Union County Area Planning Executive Director Jeff Mathews said.

Heritage Hills originally had about 1,200 sites, but over time some campers have purchased adjacent lots and combined them, Union County Assessor Diana Baker said.
