The Great Lakes RV Resort’s request to amend a Planned Unit Development agreement to include 10 acres recently annexed into Porter, Ind., was approved Tuesday (Oct. 10) by the Town Council, according to the Chesterton Tribune.
The co-owner, Trevin Fowler, had to seek a modification of its PUD agreement approved last year – which sets the guidelines for the property’s development – because 10 acres on the eastern side of their development weren’t annexed into Porter until this year.
The 50-acre resort off Tremont Road and U.S. 20 will have 180 parking spaces for recreational vehicles. Other amenities would include a restaurant, gift shop and pool for guests.
As part of the new PUD agreement, during the winter months RVs will be able to be parked on the eastern side of the development,
Fowler has said the high construction costs have been daunting but promises that the goal is still to bring a high quality development to the Duneland region.
