The Brown County (Ind.) Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously denied the request for a campground near Bean Blossom, the Brown County Democrat reported.

During their May 28 meeting, BZA members took less than 30 minutes to reach a consensus on the request filed by Michael Farabaugh.

Farabaugh and his family wanted to convert 75 acres of woods and open field between Gatesville Road, Bill Monroe Music Park and the Brown County Dragway into a campground.

The plan was to initially have 300 campsites and more than 500 parking spaces on the property, which would be known as Freedom Park.

Board members cited excessive noise, traffic and no proven economic impact to the county. Their biggest concern was the potential impact on surrounding residential property owners.
