Starting Friday (April 1), the campground at Ottumwa Park in Ottumwa, Iowa, will open for the 2016 season and it will have higher rates, the Ottumwa Courier reported.

In February, the Ottumwa City Council agreed to raise fees after eight years of stagnant rates.

Tent fees will go from $9 to $10, while RV camping will go up from $15 to $17.

According to Gene Rathje, Ottumwa Parks director, a small boost in rates would bring Ottumwa up to par with what other city parks around its size charge.

Rathje said the slight increase would mean an additional $10,000 in revenue. The additional revenue goes into the city’s general fund, that will later be reallocated back to the parks department.
