Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort locations across the U.S. and Canada are planning a variety of memorable activities for families to honor their dads over Father’s Day weekend, according to a press release.
“Our resorts are having big splash contests, chocolate pudding eating competitions and some very unique tournaments and relay races. Some locations are even having cardboard boat regattas and “Try Not to Laugh” joke contests. It should be a very fun and memorable weekend for all,” said Trent Hershenson, vice president of marketing for Camp Jellystone, the Southfield, Mich.-based company that franchises Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts across the U.S. and Canada.
Here’s a sampling of Father’s Day weekend activities that are scheduled at Jellystone Park locations across the U.S. and Canada:
Big Prairie, Ohio: This location offers an entire week of activities to celebrate Father’s Day, including squirt gun dad duels, “Try Not to Laugh” dad joke contests and a burger grilling competition.
Burleson, Texas: Activities at this location include making a craft for dad, a fishing tournament with dad, a “Silly Mustache Selfies with Dad” scavenger hunt, a chili pepper sorting relay and a copycat dress-like dad contest.
Caledonia, Wis.: This location celebrates dads with flag football, a mini golf tournament and a corn hole tournament. Kids will also have an opportunity to make a craft for dad.
Eureka, Mo.: This location celebrates Father’s Day with a week’s worth of soaking-wet activities. Guests are encouraged to bring their water shooters, water balloons, and even their hoses as the “Water Wars” comes through the park to battle it out. Father’s Day weekend activities will also feature the “Serengeti Steve Reptile Show,” the “Juggling Jeff Show,” and the “Mr. Jellystone Park Talent Contest.”
Lincoln, Del.: This location will complement its arts and crafts for dad activity with a chili cookoff.
Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick: This location celebrates families and fathers with different types of races. Kids are encouraged to dig deep into their toy boxes and bring their favorite “cool” wheels and “hot” box cars for some fast and furious Jellystone Park 500 mini races. Other race activities will involve bikes, trikes and “Tornado Karts.” There will also be swimming races and obstacle courses.
Mexico, N.Y.: Father’s Day weekend activities at this location include crafts for dad, the annual mini golf tournament and an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Sunday.
Mill Run, Pa.: Activities at this location include various skills and stamina competitions and the annual pageant for dads. Dads also receive a free dessert after dinner at the on-site restaurant.
Monticello, Iowa: Father’s Day weekend activities include crafts for dad, a best dad body contest, a poker run, and a bean bag tournament.
New Douglas, Ill.: This location offers an entire week of activities to celebrate Father’s Day, including kids versus adults laser tag, shaving cream whiffle ball, slip and slide kickball, relay races, water games, a fathers-only corn hole tournament, and the “World’s Toughest Dad Challenge” to find the strongest dad in the campground.
Niagara Falls, Ontario: Father’s Day weekend activities at this location include a root beer chugging contest.
Pittsfield, Ill.: This location has an outer space theme for Father’s Day weekend. Kids will have a chance to make rocket ship crafts and participate in a moonwalk relay and a starlight wagon ride. There will also be a father-child fishing derby.
Plymouth, Ind.: Activities at this location on Saturday include flag football, baseball darts and a tailgate party. Dads eat free at the annual Father’s Day breakfast, which is followed by a father-child fishing derby.
Pouch Cove, Newfoundland: This location’s activities include a Father’s Day card-making activity, a pavement party that includes street hockey, plastic axe throwing, and giant bean bag darts. There will also be an outdoor movie on Saturday night.
South Haven, Mich.: This location offers a week of Father’s Day activities along with its “Mermaids and Pirates Week.” Kids can wear their favorite pirate and mermaid garb, walk the plank, find buried treasures, and swim with a mermaid. Dads can also work with their kids to prepare for the cardboard regatta boat race in the pool. There will also be a “Dads-only Cornhole Tournament.”
Sturgeon Bay, Wis.: Activities at this location include a chocolate pudding eating contest for everyone willing to eat — without a spoon! Dads also receive one free game of mini golf and can compete in a Father’s Day big splash contest. There will also be a DJ dance party on Saturday night.
