Shelby/Mansfield, Ohio, KOA owners Garry and Vicki Cole were honored with the 2008 Campground of the Year award at KOA’s international convention in Phoenix in November.
The annual award recognizes deserving Kampground of Amnerica (KOA) franchisees who demonstrate a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit and operational excellence.
“In all my years with KOA, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a new franchisee get so involved in our system and be so influential with our home office staff and fellow franchisees,” KOA’s President and COO, Shane Ott, said in a news release. The Coles have only been a part of the KOA system for five years.
“Garry and Vicki are true visionaries in our business,” added Ott. The Coles, who also own the Butler/Mohican, Ohio KOA, have created a recreational oasis for campers traveling to and through north central Ohio, Ott said.
The Coles also were honored with KOA’s President’s and Founder’s awards during the convention. In addition, the Shelby/Mansfield KOA was named the Mid-Sized Campground of the Year by the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds’ (ARVC). “No words can express our joy,” said Garry. “This has been one of the best weeks of our lives.”
