Campers continue to flock in increasing numbers to Kampgrounds of America (KOA) locations in North America this summer.
Advanced reservations for the upcoming Fourth of July Weekend are up 8 percent, compared to the same time last year.
“The Fourth of July Weekend has always been a prime indicator of the popularity of camping,” said KOA President Pat Hittmeier. “It’s great to see our strong year continue through this key holiday, and we’re looking forward to providing a wonderful time for tens of thousands of campers next week.”
The July 4th numbers continue the growth curve at KOA. For the year, short-term camper nights are up nearly 4 percent in 2014 compared to 2013. KOA’s Care Camps Big Weekend in May was up 6.3 percent in camper nights, and Memorial Day Weekend reservations were up 3.2 percent. Labor Day advanced reservations show a nearly 20 percent increase in camper nights compared to the same time last year.
