It was set to open between February and March of this year but managers with the Lacassine RV Park along I-10 near Lacassine, La., said they expect the first recreational vehicles to start moving in by the end of the month, television station KPLC reported.
“We’re going to start taking reservations here in the next couple days,” said project manager Kyle Clawson.
The park was given the green light almost a year ago and crews wasted no time getting to work.
“We’ve been working on mostly, for the first few months, putting all the sewer – everything that you don’t see in the park- all the water pipes, sewer pipes – all the things that go in the ground and then started on top with, as far as the building’s concerned, water tank, sewage treatment plant, etcetera,” he said.
Most of the underground work is now complete as crews continue to clear land and put finishing touches on the main office, the water treatment plant and laundry facility.
“We are going to have a full-service laundry facility with over 30 dryers and 28 washers,” Clawson said. “We’re also going to have a convenience store that’s ability for food service and just really, customer service.”
Phase One will open by the end of January. This includes 36 lots for recreational vehicles.
Clawson said they plan to house anyone – from temporary workers as part of the economic expansion – to travelers just looking for accommodations as they visit Southwest Louisiana.
“We’ll have daily rates, as well as monthly and annual rates,” he said. “We’re not going to keep anybody away, obviously. We’ll take the traveler off the street. We’ll take the worker that’s coming to town as well,” he said.
