The Santa Claus Land of Lights opens for the season on Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) night, at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus, Ind.

This year marks 10 seasons for the Family Christmas Light Adventure at the Sun Communities’ owned property, according to a press release.

The Santa Claus Land of Lights is a custom drive-through outdoor light show that tells the Shining Story of Rudolph with thousands of bright, energy-efficient LEDs and dozens of storyboards. At 1.2 miles long, it is one of the largest holiday light shows in North America, and the only show that tells a story, the Shining Story of Rudolph.

Every vehicle that travels through the show receives a free photo with Rudolph, which has become a popular family tradition.

Discount coupons ($4 off per vehicle) are offered at 40 McDonald’s locations in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.

A portion of light show proceeds benefits the Ronald McDonald House in Evansville, Ind. Over the past 10 years, nearly $52,000 in proceeds have been distributed to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The Santa Claus Land of Lights will be open from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. CST on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from Thanksgiving through Dec. 9 and opens nightly Dec. 14 through Dec. 30.

The show is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Families are also invited to stay in a Christmas cabin at Lake Rudolph during the first three weekends of December.
