A lawsuit filed in Missouri by several Oregon County landowners aims to block the development of a new state park along the Eleven Point River, according to a Springfield News report.
The lawsuit, filed in September, claims that some of the land in the 4,176-acre Eleven Point State Park includes an easement along the river corridor that allows only agricultural uses.
The suit was filed by Elizabeth and Van McGibney, and James Connor, trustee of the James Connor Irrevocable Trust.
According to the lawsuit, the Eleven Point National Scenic River Scenic Easement was signed in 1979 and remains with the land, even though the Missouri Department of Natural Resources bought the property in January 2016 intending to build a new state park.
DNR bought the land for $8 million.
