Summer visitors to the Kennnebunks who have a longing for the great outdoors can enjoy an authentic camping experience at the newly revamped Sandy Pines Campground, formerly Salty Acres, in Kennebunkport, Maine, SeacoastOnline.com reported.

Developer Tim Harrington purchased Salty Acres from the Spang family in 2016. Deb Lennon, who is partnering with Harrington to manage the campground, said they had been looking for a campground for several years, and the property fit exactly what the two were looking for.

“It’s really beautiful, and it’s in Kennebunkport so it was the perfect find,” Lennon said. “We are re-energizing the assets, and maintaining the iconic pieces of the campground that people have loved for years. We’re building a vacation experience.”

Lennon said all of the sites have been upgraded with new water, power and sewer. The pool area and bath houses have been completely renovated, and the lodge has undergone a full refurbishment to offer an authentic Maine camp lodge experience.

Lennon said there will be 320 sites, which is fewer than Salty Acres, with a mix of new park models for purchase, seasonal sites, and RV and tent sites.

“We want to bring in long-time campers, as well as those who may not have camped in the area before,” Lennon said. “We’re excited to give more people the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place and have an authentic camping experience while they’re here.”
