Metroparks Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, has announced that it is in the planning stages of a new urban campground at Glass City Metropark on the East side, to open in 2026. Metroparks Toledo owns land between the National Museum for the Great Lakes and the Craig Memorial Bridge, which will be the location of the new campground, according to the Toldeo City Paper.
It will be a relatively small campground, but the plan is to have a full hookup for RVs, as well as sites for tents and cabins. There will be a pavilion and the campground will also be next to The Glass City Marina that Metroparks Toledo also owns, so it will be convenient for boaters and campers.
A grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund will fund the building of an access road to the campground as well as campsites.
Another grant of about $1 million from the Lucas County Land Bank, which was awarded $3.2 million from the State of Ohio, will fund the cleanup of the campground site.
