St. Joseph River flooding remains firmly on the minds of Berrien Springs, Mich., leaders, as village-owned Shamrock Park campground and nearby River Springs Estates mobile home park were among the hardest hit areas in the county.

Public Works Superintendent Bill Dustin updated the village council about the situation, according to the Herald-Palladium.

“We’ve been able to do a lot of pumping and they inspected the electric lines today in Shamrock Park,” he said. “We’re waiting to hear when we can turn the electricity back on.”

Dustin said he expects all the campers to be back in the park within two weeks. Initially, everyone will be put in the new section of the campground, as the older section will take longer to get back up and running. Many of the campers are now staying at the fairgrounds and can stay there until April 1, he said.
