It might be a bit too cold at the moment to camp at the St. Clair (Mich.) Boat Harbor. But when the municipal facility opens on April 15, there will be nine new campsites, the Voice reported.

“The campsites are operational,” according to the Dec. 20 minutes of the harbor commission meeting.

“Operational” might be too optimistic.

“Not done yet, but getting close,” said City Superintendent Mike Booth.

The city had hoped to have the campsites up and running for the 2014 boating season, but the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality did not issue a construction permit until Aug. 12. The council approved the campground project on Feb. 3, 2014, with hopes of providing the harbor with a new source of income over the summer. Now the sites will be open for 2015.
