The Michigan Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds Annual Fall Convention and Campground Tour Oct. 17-19 at the Quality Inn in West Branch was deemed very positive by its organizers as 79 people representing 32 campgrounds attended.
A cracker barrel session started the conference covering a range of subjects from dog policies to family campground succession. The group toured five area member parks including a large park and paddle sport facility, a Lake Huron Shore camp and a small rustic campground with paddle sports.
Seminars included topics on social marketing, the economy and community gardens and campgrounds.
Board directors elected include Susan Novotny, South Haven Family Campground, South Haven; Jack Forward, Lakeside Camping Resort, Ionia; David Cordray, White River RV Park and Campground, Montague; and Winny Yedinak, Beaver Trail Campground, West Branch.
Tom Briggs, Grande Rogue Campground, Grand Rapids, remains president; Tim Wilcox, Gateway Park, Hillsdale, remains vice president; Mark Staley, River Ridge Campground, Breckinridge, is the new treasurer; and Cathy Krueger, Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, Frankenmuth, remains secretary.
Wayne Purchase sold his campground, Mio Pine Acres in Mio, in April, to Brian and Barbara Lair of Columbus, Ohio, but remains Michigan ARVC executive director.
The 2011 ARVC Michigan Spring Convention and Trade Show will be held at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth on March 29 and 30.
