Several campgrounds were evacuated Thursday (Sept. 23) because of the threat of flooding, particularly in Dodge and Goodhue counties in southeastern Minnesota, where more than 6 inches of rain had fallen already by Thursday morning.

The campground at Oxbow Park near Byron and Zollman Zoo at Oxbow Park were evacuated by 5 p.m. Wednesday, manager Kevin Crilly, told The Post-Bulletin, Rochester, Minn.

He said Chester Woods Park on U.S. 14 east of Rochester is also taking precautions and has evacuated the few campers there.

A cold front passed through the area on Thursday, bringing with it more showers and more rain.

Storm runoff means streams will probably continue to rise through Friday.
