The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Butte Field Office for Montana (BLM) has begun winterizing its recreation sites on Holter and Hauser lakes north of Helena and along the Big Hole River south of Butte, the Great Falls Tribune reported.

As part of its winter preparations, the BLM will pull its boat docks out of the water and shut off water supplies to a host of campgrounds across Montana.

“We had a great summer season at our Chain of Lakes recreation sites, but now it’s time to start preparing the water systems and docks for the winter,” said Jaime Tompkins, supervisory outdoor recreation planner with the Butte field office.
